Badu Design | Billy Moore

Billy Moore worked under Colin Grey at the Royal West Academy in England 1981-1985, specializing in sculptural form using clay, bronze and welded metal, Badu Design was established in 1998 as a business producing one off figurative ceramic and welded metal pieces. A development of the work into bronze casting along with Raku firing has provided a greater range which also incorporates garden sculptural form and Public Art Commissions. The studio includes a gallery hosting work by artists living and working in the North West.

Nearby Attraction: Ballymote Castle

Richard de Burge, the “Red Earl” of Ulster, built the remains of this Anglo-Norman castle in AD 1300 and it was the strongest fortress in Connacht. The famous Codex, ‘The Book of Ballymote’ was probably compiled here c.1400 AD.

 

Directions

From Sligo at the second Collooney roundabout take N17 Galway road. After 2km turn left onto R293 for Ballymote. In Ballymote turn right at Perry’s Supermarket and take the first left. Travel for 4km (Ballymote-Castlebaldwin Road) till you reach a crossroads with a large house and phone box on right-hand side. Turn right and Badu Studio is the 3rd house on the left with the blue trim.
