Near the village of Grange, at Streedagh beach three ships of the Spanish Armada were wrecked in 1588. One of the few Spaniards to escape was Captain Francesco de Cuellar. His diary, discovered in 1885 in the archives of the Academia del Historia in Madrid, tells much of conditions prevailing in Ireland at that time.

From Sligo City take the N15 to Donegal until you see ’Yeats Tavern Restaurant’ on your left. Immediately after you turn to the left for Carney, Lissadell, Raghly.
